Dance Encounters explored the risks involved in programming international dance, the barriers and ways to overcome them. Participants looked at inspiring initiatives and discussed how to open doors to more cutting edge, international, contemporary dance. A key question was: how can we encourage and allow more risk taking in programming in Wales as well as the UK?
The event included formal presentations from UK exemplars plus Q&A alternated with informal participatory activity, dance performances and after show networking. The participants included venue programmers, dance organisations, dance artists, strategic and funding bodies and also other national organisations. Dance Encounters was held at Galeri, Caernarfon.
